htdigest는 HTTP 사용자의 digest authentication에 사용할 사용자명, 영역, 암호를 저장하는 일반파일을 만들고 수정한다. 아파치 웹서버는 자원을 htdigest로 만든 파일에 기록한 사용자에게만 보여줄 수 있다.

이 manpage는 명령행 옵션만을 설명한다. httpd에서 digest authentication을 설정하는 지시어에 대한 설명은 아파치 배포본에 포함되있고 http://httpd.apache.org/에서도 볼 수 있는 아파치 설명서를 참고하라.

htdigest [ -c ] passwdfile realm username

-c: passwdfile을 만든다. passwdfile이 이미 있다면 먼저 지우고 만든다.
passwdfile: 사용자명, 영역, 암호를 저장할 파일명. -c를 같이 사용한 경우 파일이 없다면 만들고, 있다면 파일을 지우고 다시 만든다.
realm: 사용자명이 속한 영역이름.
username: passwdfile에 만들거나 수정할 사용자명. 파일에 username이 없다면 항목을 추가한다. 있다면 암호를 수정한다.
